ECCE 2024 - European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics
Contributing to a sustainable and participatory future

8 - 11 October, 2024
Paris, France

As a leading city in the domains of ecological transition and citizen participation, we are happy to welcome you to Paris, for a convivial and scientifically thriving event around our special theme: Contributing to a sustainable and participatory future. Multiple ongoing crises spurs us to reflect on how to support and achieve energy, ecological and social transitions, in all areas of life: work, education, housing, leisure, etc. By understanding social, technological, emotional, ethical, and cognitive factors of those transitions, we may be able to design appropriate supportive services and devices. Concomitantly, there is a renewed interest in participatory practices at different levels sparked by an explicit demand by citizens and workers to be more involved in defining and designing their living and working environments. These two topics are intertwined: proper participatory processes are a key factor to support the transition processes toward a sustainable world.

ECCE 2023 - European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics
Responsible Technology community, culture, and sustainability

19 - 22 September, 2023
Swansea University, Wales
Swansea, UK

We look forward to welcoming you all to beautiful Swansea, Wales this September for ECCE 2023 – on the campus on the beach! The ECCE (European Conference in Cognitive Ergonomics) is the leading conference in human-media interaction and cognitive engineering. It is the annual conference of EACE (European Association of Cognitive Ergonomics) that brings together researchers from different disciplines to identify and tackle issues in cognitive ergonomics. As the role of digital technologies in our life changes rapidly and drastically, each year ECCE identifies prominent themes in cognitive ergonomics that currently occupy researchers’ and applied scientists’ efforts. The special theme for ECCE in 2023 is Responsible Technology: Community, Culture, and Sustainability.

ECCE 2022 - European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics
Designing virtual and physical interactive systems

4 - 7 October, 2022
Technical University of Kaiserslautern
Kaiserslautern, Germany

ECCE is the leading conference in human-media interaction and cognitive ergonomics. It provides an opportunity for both researchers and practitioners to exchange new ideas and practical experiences for a variety of domains. The special theme of 33rd ECCE conference, which will be held October 4-7, 2022 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, is Evaluating the RealityVirtuality Continuum. It is dedicated to a variety of research areas and applications that are encompassed by the so-called Reality-Virtuality continuum: These include systems that are used in real-world settings such as applications scaling from smart devices to large industrial setups, as well as Mixed Reality (MR) applications that integrate real and virtual objects, and Virtual Reality (VR) applications that immerse users into purely virtual environments. Contributions to ECCE 2022 may investigate the interaction with any of these systems and propose enhancements to their design, development, or evaluation. ECCE 2022 seeks to encourage an interdisciplinary dialogue and discussion among participants related to general topics of cognitive ergonomics as well as this year’s special theme.
